There’s something truly magical about the moon. Its rhythm, its pull, the way it lights up the sky, it holds a powerful energetic influence, especially for those of us who live and lead from intuition.
I’ve spent more than 30 years deepening my spiritual practice and learning to understand how my intuition works. And in that time, I’ve also learned how powerfully the moon can affect us, unless we choose to work with it intentionally. Now, when a moon phase feels strong, I meet it with awareness instead of resistance. That shift has been a gift. And I want that for you too.
Tuning into the moon doesn’t have to be complicated. You don’t need to follow strict rituals or know astrology inside out. You just need to pay attention to your body, your energy, your inner voice, and use the moon’s energy as a guide to reconnect.

Grounding Practices in Moonlight
One of the simplest ways to begin is to meditate in the moonlight. It doesn’t need to be elaborate. Just bring a chair outside, onto a balcony, into your backyard, or anywhere you can sit and be with the moon.
If you’re in a noisy area, you can actually let the sounds support your meditation. When a car drives past or a plane flies overhead, gently tell yourself, That sound is helping me go deeper into stillness. I used to get so frustrated with external noise during meditation. But reframing those sounds as allies changed everything. My body now recognises them as cues for deeper connection.
And the more you show your intuition, and the universe, that you can meditate even amidst distraction, the more grounded and powerful your practice becomes.
Intuitive Journaling with the Moon
Journaling during the moon’s phases can be a beautiful way to access intuitive clarity. I don’t journal every day, but when I do, the full and new moons are my go-to moments.
The full moon is a time to release. It’s about letting go of old patterns, beliefs, and energy that no longer serve you. The new moon, on the other hand, is about calling in the new, setting intentions, starting fresh, and aligning with what you truly want to receive.
These aren’t just writing exercises. They’re energetic invitations. The moon opens a doorway, and journaling helps you walk through it.
Moonlit Walks and Energetic Presence
Another favourite practice of mine is going for a moonlit walk. If it’s safe where you live, gather a few friends and take a slow, intentional walk under the moon. You don’t have to say much. Just walk with the intention of being supported by lunar energy.
You might even say to the moon, Let’s go for a walk together tonight.
It’s a way of reconnecting not just with the moon, but with yourself, your rhythm, your breath. That kind of presence can soften your nervous system and open your intuitive channels in the most beautiful way.
Visualisation as a Sacred Tool
The moon is a perfect companion for visualisation. These practices are slightly different from meditation—visualisation keeps you more consciously aware while still guiding you into a deep, receptive state.
During a new moon, for instance, you might visualise what you’d like to bring into your business. You can ask:
- What am I ready to receive?
- What desire is rising in me that wants to be acknowledged?
- What would it feel like to embody this new beginning fully?
You’re not trying to force clarity. You’re letting the moonlight support your inner knowing. And because every moon phase carries its own energy, depending on the zodiac sign and the house it’s in, you’ll notice that different intentions rise at different times. Trust what comes.
Creating a Moon Altar
One of the most grounding and beautiful practices is creating a moon altar. You can have as many altars as you like, small, large, temporary, permanent. It’s all about intention.
Even if you’re living in a single rented room, you can create a sacred space. Add candles, crystals, oracle cards, or objects that feel meaningful. You can change your altar with each full and new moon, allowing it to reflect the energy you’re working with.
When I set up my moon altar, I always do energy work as well. I set the intention for the space. I let it hold my prayers, my reflections, my gratitude. And in doing so, I honour not just the moon, but myself.
The more we honour these cycles, the more supported we feel, physically, emotionally, and energetically.
Mini Retreats with the Moon
If you feel called, you might even create a moon retreat. This can be as simple as one day away from routine, or a longer self-led weekend to tune in deeply.
The moon’s influence is strongest the day before, the day of, and the day after. So giving yourself even a small window to reflect, create, or reset during that time can be powerful. You can do it alone or with a few trusted business besties.
Set the tone by naming your intention. Reflect on your business. Ask what needs to be released, or what wants to grow. Let it be your version of a sacred pause.
Final Reflections
The moon isn’t here to throw us off course, it’s here to guide us. To offer a rhythm. To remind us to pause, reflect, release, and begin again.
Whether you choose to meditate, journal, visualise, or simply step outside and whisper hello to the night sky, your connection is valid. Your intuition is real. And your body already knows how to tune in.
Let the moon be a mirror. Let it reflect back the light that’s already within you.
