You don’t need the perfect office to create a sacred workspace. You don’t need fancy lighting or a Pinterest-worthy setup. What matters is how your space feels, and how it holds you while you work, create, and lead. Whether you’re working from a dedicated room, a shared home, or a small corner carved out just for now, you get to make that space yours.
For me, my workspace is currently in my bedroom. I rent a room in a house, and yet, I’ve still been able to make it feel sacred. And interestingly, the word safe came out as I was speaking about it. Because that’s part of it too. Safe, sacred, and supportive. When you create a workspace that allows you to show up fully, without masks, without pressure, without pretence, you’re already doing something powerful.

What Does Safe and Sacred Mean to You?
A sacred space isn’t just about appearance, it’s about energy. It’s about how you feel when you sit down. Safe, for me, means I can show up however I am. No makeup, no polished hair or fancy clothes. Just me, as I am. And that level of comfort allows me to work from truth, not performance.
Sacred means surrounding myself with reminders of why I’m in business. It means having meaningful items on my desk, using scents that anchor me, and choosing the tools that help me feel inspired. It also means keeping the space clear, because clutter affects creativity. When inspiration hits, I want to have the space to act on it. I want to be able to write, move, create, or open my computer without knocking things over or feeling blocked.
You don’t need a grand desk or a private room. You just need intention. Sacred can be a small table in the hallway, as long as it’s been created with care.
What Helps Me Stay Focused and Inspired
Over time, I’ve found little rituals and tools that help me stay connected to the energy of my work. They’re not complex, but they hold meaning. They support both focus and creativity, which, for me, always go hand in hand.
- I use a timer and follow the Pomodoro method to create flow and structure in my day. I’ve even decorated my timer with beautiful designs that make it feel personal and creative.
- I love having candles or diffusers nearby. Scents are powerful. They ground me, and certain oils bring me back to my purpose when I need a reset.
- I keep essential oils, creams, and sprays nearby that remind me to pause and breathe. These sensory tools help me stay connected to my body.
- Oracle cards sit on my desk. If I feel off or disconnected, I’ll pull a card and let it guide my next action. Sometimes it leads to journaling. Sometimes to a live video. But it always brings me back.
- I make sure my setup is supportive, screens at the right height, drinks close by, and reminders to care for my body. That’s part of making the space sacred too. Because my body is sacred. My energy is sacred.
Sacred doesn’t mean spiritual in a traditional sense, it means that what you’re doing and how you feel doing it matters. It honours both the work and the person behind the work.
Boundaries Protect the Sacred
If you share your space with others, family, partners, housemates, it’s so important to set boundaries. Let them know that when you’re in your workspace, it’s sacred. That doesn’t mean it’s untouchable. It means it deserves respect. That you deserve space to focus, to create, and to do what matters to you.
I’ve made it clear that when the door is closed, I’m not to be disturbed. No knocking. No interruptions. Unless it’s an emergency, that time and space is mine. Not because I’m being difficult, but because I’m honouring the energy I bring into my business. And I want the people around me to honour that too.
This is part of being in business. Not just doing the work, but protecting the space where the work happens. When you treat your workspace with care, others begin to do the same.
Final Reflections
Your workspace doesn’t have to be big, beautiful, or perfect. It just needs to feel like it belongs to you. It needs to hold your focus, your creativity, your energy. Whether it’s through scent, light, objects, or boundaries, let your space support the version of you who’s building something meaningful.
You are allowed to create beauty. You are allowed to take up space. And you are allowed to be supported, even by the room you’re in.
