Not everyone sees what you’re carrying. When your energy shifts daily, or even hourly, because of an invisible illness, mental health, or the natural cycles of your body, business can feel like a constant recalibration. And if your experience isn’t outwardly visible, people often don’t understand. They assume it’s all in your head, or that you’re just not managing your time well. But we know that’s not the truth.

Your energy matters. And learning how to work with your energy, not against it, is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your business. Especially when you’re navigating anxiety, depression, C-PTSD, chronic health conditions, or simply the ebb and flow of being human.

You don’t need to “push through.” You don’t need to perform wellness. You get to honour your body and build your business around your real rhythm.

You Are Not Your Illness

I don’t say, I have depression or I have anxiety. I say I’ve experienced symptoms of them. Because the moment I make those things mine, my illness, my anxiety, I give them permanent space in my energy field. And that’s not what I choose.

I’ve done deep emotional and energetic work to separate myself from those stories. I’ve worked with psychologists, counsellors, and energy healing practices to shift those patterns. And now I know: low moments are part of being in a human body. They don’t define me. They don’t define you either.

You’re allowed to have days when your energy feels low, even when nothing dramatic is happening. That doesn’t make you weak. That makes you human.

Energy and Vibration Are Not Always the Same

One of the most misunderstood things about business and mindset work is the idea that if your energy is low, your vibration must be too. But that’s not always true. You can feel low emotionally but still be holding a high energetic capacity. Or the reverse, you can feel mentally switched on, buzzing with ideas, and still feel drained in your body.

The key is learning to notice the difference. Sometimes you’ll feel off and think it’s your mindset, but it’s actually your body asking for nourishment or rest. Other times, your body will feel ready, but your inner voice needs quiet or clarity.

This is where awareness changes everything. Because when you know what kind of energy you’re working with, you can respond instead of react.

Track Your Energy Like It Matters. Because It Does

One of the most practical tools I ever gave myself was this: for a whole month, I tracked how I felt every hour I was working on my business. It wasn’t complex, it was about noticing.

  • What had I eaten or drunk in that hour?
  • What kind of task was I doing, creative, admin, connection?
  • How did I feel in my body? Was my energy up or down?
  • What was my emotional state? My mindset?
  • Did I feel connected to myself and my work, or detached?

Doing this changed everything. I started to see patterns. I learned the best times of day to record video, take clients, or do writing. I saw where sugar spiked my energy but led to a crash. I noticed how skipping a meal, not on purpose, but out of flow, would quietly deplete me.

Once I had that awareness, I could begin building a business that works with me, not against me.

Build Your Schedule Around Your Real Energy

After doing that energy tracking, I shifted my availability. I set hours based on when I naturally feel most present, most creative, and most grounded. Anything outside those windows is time for rest, integration, or nourishment.

I still do things outside those hours, but they’re different things. They’re not for pushing. They’re for filling back up. That might mean quiet time. Art. Movement. Conversations that restore me.

It’s not about doing less. It’s about doing what truly works. When I work this way, I can offer longer packages. I can hold space for clients over a year or more, because I’m not running on empty. I know how to refill before I run dry.

And you can do that too. You get to choose how your business runs. You get to design your systems and structure based on how your energy actually flows.

You are allowed to build a business around your energy, not the other way around. You’re allowed to rest when you need it. To change your mind. To slow down so you can actually hear what your body is asking for.
