Ten Things I Won’t Do in My Business – BDay Fun Day 12

This one felt fun to record, and it feels just as important to put in writing. It’s day 12 of the 12 Days of Birthday Fun, and unlike last year, I’ve actually loved it this time around. That shift alone speaks volumes about how much has changed in my energy, my alignment, and how I run my business.

So today, I’m sharing ten things I no longer do in business, things I’ve let go of, things I’ve outgrown, and things I now refuse to tolerate. This isn’t about rebellion. It’s about clarity, self-trust, and building a business that honours the way I want to lead and live.

1. I won’t sacrifice alignment for the sake of strategy.

If a strategy only works when I override my body, my intuition, or my energy, it’s not the strategy for me. And I’ve learned that the hard way. I’ve burnt out twice before from following “proven” strategies that didn’t feel aligned. Now, I tap into what works for me. I’m open to hearing suggestions from coaches, but I always filter those suggestions through my own system. If it lands in my body as a no, I honour that. Strategy only works when it’s energetically aligned. Full stop.

2. I won’t follow every trend.

There’s so much pressure to jump on every new thing, new content types, new social platforms, new launch methods. It’s easy to get distracted. I’ve learned that chasing trends can pull me out of my own business rhythm. I might be in a beautiful flow, then suddenly see something shiny and think, “Maybe I should try that.” But what it actually does is disrupt my energy. So now, I only follow what feels sustainable. I listen to my business. I choose strategies that feel natural and grounded.

3. I won’t sell just to sell.

Every offer I create has to feel right. I don’t create things just to hit a revenue goal. Of course, I have income goals, but they’re not the driver. I only sell what I’d be excited to buy myself. If I’m not lit up by an offer, I won’t put it out. And I always wait for the right energy before launching anything new. I tune in. I listen. I trust the timing. That’s when things land. In energy, and in sales.

4. I won’t work with clients who aren’t energetically aligned.

In the early days, I said yes to anyone. I was in scarcity. I thought I had to take on every client to grow. But those misaligned clients? They drained me. And they impacted my business in ways I didn’t fully realise until later. Now, I trust that the right people will come. I set clear boundaries. I create content and offers that feel good to me, and that naturally attracts the people who are meant to work with me.

5. I won’t ignore my body, energy, or intuition.

When I’ve pushed through in the past, it’s led to frustration, misalignment, and eventually, burnout. I’ve done it. I’ve lived it. And I’m not doing it again. Now, I rest when I need to rest. I honour my energy cycles. I treat my business like a living partner that also has energetic rhythms. We move together. We pause together. We build together. And it works so much better.

6. I won’t upsell just for the sake of selling.

I don’t believe in pressure-based upselling. You know the kind, where before you even check out, you’re hit with three more offers. It doesn’t feel good to me. I trust that the one thing someone buys is enough for them. They don’t need to be pushed into adding more to their cart. My job isn’t to convince, it’s to serve. So now, I only offer what feels truly aligned for both me and my clients. And the trust that builds from that? It lasts.

7. I won’t use testimonials as a sales tactic.

This one never felt great to me. Success looks different for everyone. No two client journeys are the same. So when we lead with testimonials, it can unintentionally create comparison or false expectation. That doesn’t feel ethical to me. I want my clients to make decisions from their own truth, not someone else’s result. So now, I encourage people to trust their own process. That’s what I teach. And that’s what I model.

8. I won’t pressure anyone into buying.

I’ve been on the receiving end of this, and it never felt right. I’ve had coaches try to get me to commit on the call, and later I realised, it didn’t work because I wasn’t ready. It wasn’t aligned. I don’t use scarcity tactics. I don’t do countdowns or discounts or urgency language. I give people time. I offer information, and then I hold space. If someone wants to work with me, I want that decision to come from a place of calm, not pressure. That’s how you build trust. That’s how you create real alignment.

9. I won’t breach client confidentiality.

This is non-negotiable. I don’t take screenshots of group calls. I don’t quote client messages. Even if someone says it’s okay, I still won’t do it. To me, it feels deeply wrong. I’ve seen it happen in programs I’m part of, and every time, it hits a nerve. I want my clients to feel safe. Even in a group setting. Especially in a group setting. So I let my work speak for itself. That’s the energy I lead with.

10. I won’t work with mentors who don’t listen to me.

If someone insists their way is the only way, I’m out. True mentorship is not about control. It’s about guidance. I want to be in rooms where my individuality is honoured. Where my intuition is respected. Where collaboration replaces hierarchy. That’s the kind of mentorship I now seek, and that’s the kind of space I hold.

Final Reflections

These aren’t hard rules. They’re personal boundaries. And they’ve changed the way I do business. They’ve brought me back into rhythm, into trust, and into leadership that actually feels like mine. If something here resonates, maybe it’s time to write your own list. Not of what to chase, but of what you’ll no longer tolerate. Because sometimes clarity begins with what you’re no longer available for.
