Your inner child isn’t just a memory or idea, it’s an active part of who you are. It lives in your subconscious. It holds emotions, beliefs, and experiences from childhood. And when you work with this energy consciously, something powerful begins to shift.
The Earth Connection Chakra, deeply connected to safety and survival, is where the inner child often lives energetically. This chakra is foundational. It holds the earliest impressions of who you are and what you needed, and didn’t receive. What the Inner Child Really Is
There are many ways to define the inner child. The dictionary often describes it as your true self, your original essence, that may be hidden or hurt during adulthood. Spiritually, it’s the part of your subconscious that was absorbing everything long before you were able to process it mentally or emotionally.
It’s the part of you that:
- Remembers how you felt when you were left out
- Reacts when you’re not seen or heard
- Carries both joy and hurt from your earliest years
For many of us, our inner child was silenced or shamed. Even if your childhood was mostly good, there may have been just one moment, a comment, an experience, that caused separation. That’s all it takes.
And so that inner child stays tucked away. Still present. Still holding that energy. Until you choose to meet them again.
Working With Your Inner Child
I’ve done a lot of work with my own inner child. And it’s been some of the most beautiful, emotional, and transformative work I’ve done. There were tears. There was softness. There was truth.
Working with your inner child is not about “healing” in the traditional sense. It’s about awareness. Because awareness is what heals. When you become aware of what your inner child believes, what they still carry, you can start shifting the energy.
Play is one of the most powerful ways to reconnect. Let your inner child guide you to joy. Let them feel seen. Give them permission to exist.
Your Inner Child Doesn’t Belong in Your Business
This part is important. Your inner child is not meant to run your business. Children don’t work in business. So your inner child, while precious and worthy of love, needs to stay separate from your business space.
If I go for a walk, I’ll take my inner child with me. If I’m doing something playful or creative, they can come along. But when I’m running my business, leading a call, creating offers, or doing deep energetic work, that’s my adult self. My grounded self. My CEO self.
You can’t lead from your inner child. They’re not here to make decisions. They’re here to be nurtured.
Let Mother Earth Hold Them
The Earth Connection Chakra, located at the core of Mother Earth, is like a nurturing embrace. It’s that warm, grounded space where you can send your inner child to rest. To be held. To feel safe again.
You don’t always have to mother your inner child alone. You can ask Mother Earth to help. Let her hold your inner child like a grandparent would, gently, lovingly, fully.
When your inner child feels safe and supported in this way, you can step into leadership with more clarity and strength. You don’t need to split your energy. You can create boundaries that honour both parts of you, the soft and the strong.
Final Reflections
Your inner child is a part of you. They hold your earliest memories, feelings, and truths. And when you meet them with presence, not only do they feel safer, but so do you.
Rooting this connection in the Earth Connection Chakra brings peace. It brings grounding. And it allows you to live and lead from a place that’s deeply aligned.
