Episode 94

Creating A Safe Space For Client Connection

This is something I want you to reflect on, not from a place of performance, but from presence. When someone enters your space, whether they’ve paid or not, how do they actually feel? What is the emotional and energetic environment you hold for them?

For me, confidentiality is everything. It’s my highest value, and it shapes every part of the container I hold. Recently, someone asked me for the name of a client. I refused, immediately, firmly, without apology. Because protecting the safety of those who work with me is non-negotiable. That safety allows them to open up, to share freely, to release the fear of being judged or exposed. It creates a space where they can be themselves—fully, wholly, without reservation.

That’s what I want for every person I work with. And I want you to ask yourself, Do your clients feel safe with you?

Energetic Presence and Integrity

We all bring something different into our work. For me, it’s nurturing. It’s compassion. It’s the ability to be fully present. I’m an empath with strong boundaries. I feel things, see things, know things, and I hold them with care.

But just as importantly, I release them when the moment has passed. I don’t carry the weight of a session once it’s done. I honour what came through, I reflect it back when needed, and then I energetically disconnect from that part so I don’t take it on. I’m still there for the client, but I’m not entangled in their energy.

This is a learned skill. It’s what allows me to show up again and again with clarity, strength, and compassion.

Why Safety Matters

Too often, I see people sharing client stories publicly, sometimes without names, sometimes in vague or “third-party” ways. But here’s the truth: you never know who’s watching. You never know who might recognise themselves, or someone they love, in that story.

I’ve seen it in healthcare. I’ve seen it online. And it breaks trust instantly. Even if you think you’re protecting anonymity, the energetic breach is real. People feel when they’re not being held in full safety. And once that trust is gone, it’s incredibly hard to rebuild.

That’s why I draw a clear line. I won’t work with people who disregard confidentiality. I’ve made a list, names of those I’ve seen do this, because for me, that’s not a small oversight. That’s a fundamental misalignment.

What Energy Do You Transmit?

This is an invitation for you to reflect deeply.

Ask yourself:

  • When someone enters your space, online or in session, what do you want them to feel?
  • Is it confidence? Safety? Compassion? Permission to be fully themselves?
  • And once you’ve named those feelings, how do you actually create them? What do you do, say, or embody that helps them feel that way?

It’s not just about intention. It’s about action. If you want someone to feel nurtured, how do you express that in your tone, your words, your follow-up, your silence?

If you want them to feel confident, how do you hold your own confidence in the session? Do you show up grounded? Do you sit tall? Do you speak clearly, with conviction?

The Subtle Cues Matter

Your energy communicates more than your words. When I speak about nurturing, you’ll see it in my tone. You’ll hear the softening in my voice. If I want to help someone feel strong and certain, my posture shifts. My energy becomes more firm, more anchored.

These shifts are subtle, but they’re felt. They create an environment where people know they’re being met fully. And that’s the foundation of trust.

This doesn’t only apply to sessions. It’s just as important in your social media, your newsletters, your videos, your emails. Every interaction with your business is an energetic exchange. And every exchange either builds safety, or fractures it.

A Gentle Practice for You

Here’s something simple, but powerful:

  •  Take a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle. On one side, write how you want your clients to feel when they’re with you, in sessions, on calls, reading your content, watching your videos. On the other side, write what you actually do to help them feel that way.
  • Don’t judge your answers. Just notice. Are there gaps? Are there strengths you hadn’t recognised? Is there something you want to shift or deepen?

This isn’t about performing. It’s about being intentional. Being present. Being trustworthy, not just in your content, but in your energy.

Final Reflections

How your clients feel matters more than what you deliver. Because when people feel safe, they open. When they feel seen, they grow. When they feel honoured, they return, not just to you, but to themselves.

This is the work. And it begins with you.
