Trusting My Intuition – BDay Fun Day 11

Trusting your intuition is a journey. For many of us, it’s not something we were taught to do, it’s something we’ve had to relearn. To remember. And most of all, to practise.

When I look at where I am now, compared to where I was years ago, I’m so grateful for the relationship I’ve built with my intuition. But it didn’t happen overnight. It took time, compassion, and repeated, intentional practice. And that’s exactly what I want to share with you, what’s helped me, what I’ve learnt, and what continues to deepen this trust every day.

You Receive Intuition in So Many Ways

We often think intuition has to come through as a voice or a feeling. But it can come in so many different forms. The truth is, you’re probably receiving intuitive guidance all the time, you just may not be recognising it yet.

Your intuition can come through:

  • A conversation with a friend that lands a little deeper than usual
  • A quote in a book or a moment in a movie that sparks something
  • Seeing a symbol in nature, like a feather or an animal that carries meaning for you
  • Repeating numbers—111, 1111, or patterns that show up again and again

You might even decide to ask for a sign. “If I see a white feather, it means this. If I see a coloured feather, it means that.” And that’s valid. That’s real. That’s your intuition speaking your language.

The more you acknowledge it, the more it shows up.

Play With Your Intuition

One of the most powerful ways to build trust is to play. When you invite your intuition into playful moments, into lightness, it becomes easier to receive. It stops feeling like pressure or something you have to “get right.” It starts to feel like a relationship.

Have fun with it. Talk to your intuition. Let it be part of your daily life. And most of all, notice how it wants to speak to you. Everyone’s intuitive language is different. You may see. You may hear. You may feel, know, smell, taste, or touch. All of those are valid. All of them are intuition.

Write it down if you want to. Keep a notebook or journal where you track the messages you’ve received, what came through, what it meant, and what you did with it.

My Intuition Comes Through My Art

For me, intuition comes through so strongly in my art. Sometimes I’ll paint something, and later I’ll notice an angel or symbol I hadn’t seen before. Sometimes it feels like a portal opens, one that I could never recreate if I tried.

These pieces become messages. They hold frequencies. They reveal things to me long after I’ve created them. That’s how I know they’re not just coming from me, they’re moving through me. And every time I receive one of those messages, I feel a shift. An insight. A moment of recognition. It’s sacred.

Gratitude and Compassion Make Everything Easier

Two of the biggest things that have helped me deepen my intuition are gratitude and compassion. Gratitude opens the channel. It softens your energy and creates space to receive.

Compassion, on the other hand, allows you to keep going even when you get it wrong. Because yes, sometimes you will get it wrong. And that’s okay.

When I was younger, I used to berate myself for every misstep. But now, I meet myself with kindness. If I miss a message, I remind myself: that was the version of me that didn’t know yet. That was the version of me still learning.

Now, I thank my intuition, even when the message feels unclear or when I’ve ignored it in the past. Because every time I honour it, I deepen the relationship.

Practice Is Non-Negotiable

There’s no shortcut here. If you want to trust your intuition, you have to practise. Just like learning the piano or swimming, it takes repetition. You have to use it. Tune into it. Make space for it.

Let yourself ask questions. Let yourself pause and receive. Let yourself be okay with not always getting it right the first time. That’s part of the learning.

And if you’ve studied something, like a modality, a course, or a technique, don’t just let it sit on the shelf. Practise it. Use it. Let it become familiar. That’s how you build confidence. That’s how you strengthen the connection.

Quiet the Mind So Intuition Can Speak

Sometimes, your intuition is coming through, but you can’t hear it over the noise of the mind. If you’re in a cycle of overthinking, overplanning, or analysing everything, intuition gets drowned out. Not because it’s not there, but because your mind is too loud to notice it.

I’ve experienced this. I worked in a field that demanded constant overthinking. I was trained to anticipate every outcome, to watch every process, to keep things tight. Add trauma to the mix, and of course my mind became overactive. It was a form of protection.

But the more I practised quieting it, through art, meditation, and even diamond art, I found moments of stillness. Moments when the mind softened, and the intuition could finally come through.

Find the Tools That Work for You

Quieting the mind doesn’t have to mean sitting in silence. It could mean:

  • Swimming, which still feels new for me but is deeply meditative
  • Creating diamond art, where focus and repetition create peace
  • Making art, even messy, imperfect art, as a way to tune in
  • Sitting in nature or walking slowly, letting your body lead

You don’t have to follow anyone else’s method. Find what helps you feel calm, connected, and open. That’s where your intuition will be waiting.

Final Reflections

Trusting your intuition isn’t about being perfect. It’s about relationship. It’s about noticing, practising, and meeting yourself with compassion every step of the way.

Let your intuition speak. Let it come through in ways that are unique to you. And most of all, let it become something you cherish, not something you fear.
