Mindset and self-belief are two of the most important things you can cultivate in business. And even though they go hand in hand, they don’t always come easily, especially when you’re building something new, or doing it in a way that’s different from the people around you.
You might have family and friends who love you deeply and mean well, but they’re not your ideal clients. They don’t always understand what you’re creating or how you’re choosing to grow. And sometimes, their advice, even when given with care, can chip away at your self-belief.
This is where your inner foundation becomes essential. Because the truth is: in business, your mindset will be tested. And the more you return to your own centre, the more grounded and supported you’ll feel, no matter what’s happening around you.

Strengthening Self-Belief as a CEO
Self-belief isn’t something you either have or don’t have. It’s something you build. And some days, that belief might feel strong. Other days, it might feel distant. But even on the harder days, there’s something deeper underneath, a knowing that you’re still showing up. Still choosing to trust yourself.
There have been days where I’ve looked at my business and thought, “I’m not doing anything today.” Not because of a lack of belief, but because something needed to be cleared or healed before I could move forward. Or maybe I’d already given enough for the day, and the next aligned step was rest.
That’s the kind of self-trust I’ve cultivated over time. And it didn’t come from pushing harder, it came from shifting my mindset.
From Fixed to Growth: How Mindset Shapes Our Path
For a long time, my mindset was what I’d call fixed. Tunnel vision. This is the way it has to be. No flexibility. No softness. Just grit. But over time, I began to realise that mindset wasn’t serving me, or my business.
A growth mindset is different. It opens. It receives. It allows room for change, for learning, for curiosity. It says, “What else is possible here?”
There are so many ways to nourish a growth mindset:
- Listen to voices that uplift and expand you, whether that’s a conversation, a piece of content, or someone sharing their truth
- Take part in courses, workshops, or spaces that stretch your thinking and invite new perspectives
- Explore spiritual tools like meditation or energy work that help you tune into your own inner wisdom
- Surround yourself with people who see your potential, and remind you of it on the days you forget
All of this doesn’t just grow your mindset, it grows your self-belief. Because every time you say yes to your own development, you’re telling yourself: “I matter. My voice matters. My growth matters.”
Protecting Your Energy and Refilling Your Cup
The more I tune into my spiritual and emotional body, the more I understand how much my personal life affects my business. If I spend time around people who drain me, I have to do the work to refill myself. That’s not always avoidable, but I’ve learned to set myself up beforehand if I know I’m going into a space like that.
That might mean doing something grounding before and after. Or it might mean preparing my energy so that I can stay in my own vibration, even in the presence of someone else’s intensity.
This is self-leadership. It’s not about controlling every environment, it’s about taking care of your own needs. And that includes believing in your right to protect your energy.
Returning to Yourself First
I have support in my life. I have people I lean on, and I’m deeply grateful for that. But I always return to myself first. Because at the end of the day, I’m the one running my business. I’m the one holding my energy. And the more I believe in myself, the more my business responds.
You don’t need to wait until everything feels perfect. You just need to start building that trust in yourself, one decision, one moment, one small action at a time.
That’s how mindset works. That’s how self-belief builds.
Final Reflections
Your mindset will shape how you lead. How you show up. How you speak to yourself in quiet moments. And your self-belief? It’s not something to find, it’s something to return to.
The more you tend to your thoughts, your energy, your inner voice, the more your business becomes an extension of your truth.
Let yourself evolve. Let yourself be supported. And know that every time you choose to believe in yourself, you’re choosing something powerful: the foundation for everything else to grow.
