Episode 160

Sacred Self Leadership

This conversation is one I’ve been holding close for a while, because it speaks to the way I’ve reshaped how I show up in business, and in life.

Self-leadership isn’t something we’re handed a manual for. And self-compassion? That’s something most of us have had to learn as adults, often the hard way. We’ve been taught how to push, how to hustle, how to override our bodies and our boundaries, but not how to listen.

In this episode, I’m talking about what it means to lead from softness, to honour your seasons, and to run a business that truly supports you. These aren’t just ideas, they’re practices I’ve had to return to again and again as I unlearn everything that told me leadership had to be hard.

Redefining Leadership Through a Soul Lens

I want to redefine leadership through a soul lens. Leadership isn’t about hustle. It’s about self-embodiment—actually embodying everything that you’re learning into your body. All of the beautiful learnings. You want to embody the beautiful, positive learnings that are aligned to you. And you want to learn how to let go of any learnings that are not aligned, especially in regards to hustle.

Why do we need to hustle? To me, it feels so wrong. Every time I hustle, I lose myself. And my business loses its way. I’ve learnt hustle is not the way for me. And I truly believe it’s not the way for many, many people. Think about the energy behind hustle. It feels scattered. It feels disconnected. It’s not supportive.

Lead Yourself First

So, learn to lead yourself before leading any others.

  • Lead yourself as a CEO. The visionary, the holder of the long-term path and possibilities.
  • Lead yourself as an employee. The one who shows up, does the work, and honours your role in the day-to-day.
  • Lead yourself and your business. As a whole, with care, awareness, and full presence.

Because your softness is actually a superpower. It is not negative. It is not something to hide. It is your superpower.

Allow that beautiful softness to come up. Now, I don’t mean that you have no boundaries or that you’re people-pleasing. No. The softness comes through:

  • The words you choose to use—how you speak to others and yourself.
  • The way you show up in sessions—with presence, with care.
  • The way you create your products and services—infused with intention and feeling.

That’s your softness. And it’s a softness within you. It is deep within you.

Honour Your Inner Seasons

When you honour your seasons and your needs, it is amazing what actually happens. It’s okay to have the ebb and flow. Because that is normal. Business has ebbs and flows. It is totally normal to have them. So create a flexible structure that adapts to your own energy.

For me, if I want to work in my business—doing beautiful tasks like creating videos—mornings are better. Sometimes the afternoons, but most of the time, the mornings are best. For clients, I’m able to work between about nine to two. After that, I need to switch off. I need to recharge.

I don’t like doing anything at night because it actually affects my energy and it affects my sleep. That’s why I’m adamant that I don’t do things at night. It’s very rare that I do. I might have signed up to a program and they have night courses or classes, and if I don’t attend at night, I know I’m not going to watch the replay.

From now on, I’m not going to be doing any more of that. If I look at a program and it has night calls, I’m not going to sign up. Because it really does affect my energy. And I need to honour that.

Rest is actually a business strategy. If I don’t rest at night—if I have calls that go later into the night—then how can I rest? And how can my business rest? Because it needs rest. It’s energy. It needs to recharge.

Morning Rituals That Anchor

Let’s have a look at starting the day with breaths, intention, card pulling, journaling—whatever it is that you want to do. Because the way that you start your day does actually affect the rest of your day.

When I was working in the healthcare field, I needed to get up early. I was up and I was about. And that meant that I had adrenaline running through all the time. A lot of the time, it made it hard for me to wind down.

I had to do so many things to wind down just to be able to sleep and get up the next morning. So when I left that field, I needed to learn what worked for me. I would love for you to check in emotionally before you take any aligned action.

Feel what emotions are coming up. What beliefs are coming up. If you’re getting anything that doesn’t feel right—unaligned, heavy, whatever it is—then take notice. Do something first. And then re-evaluate your energy and your emotions.

Because when you take aligned action, you want to be in a space that is aligned, that is divine, that is pure love.

Celebrate Every Win

Celebrate every single win—even the so-called small ones. There really is no such thing as a small win. They are all amazing wins.

Celebrate when you rest. When you pause. When you honour what your body is telling you. Celebrate when you don’t push through. Because these moments matter. They mean you’re leading yourself differently. With compassion. With truth.

You Don’t Have to Carry It Alone

If something in this landed… if it stirred something tender or reminded you of a part of yourself you’d forgotten, I want you to know: you’re not alone in this.

You don’t need to do business in isolation. You don’t need to hold every question, every stretch, every recalibration by yourself. What you’re building matters. And how you feel while building it matters even more.

Whether or not we’ve ever worked together, whether or not we ever will, there is space for you here. Through my writing, my work, my presence. Through community. Through energy. Through quiet reminders like this.

There are softer ways to grow. And you’re allowed to walk them in your own time, in your own rhythm, and with the support that feels right for you.
